Back in 2009, a couple of book bloggers presented a sort-of challenge for bloggers to take time and unplug from the online world. Since then, I think the idea of being unplugged has caught on at all times of the year, as a way of giving yourself permission to step back for awhile.
I’ve been having a bad case of bloggers block lately, so between that, the holidays, and the fact that I’m going to be in Las Vegas covering a conference for work next week, now seems like a good time to unplug.
I’m hoping to be able to read blogs and be on Twitter occasionally, but I don’t think I’ll be posting anything until the beginning of December. I hope taking a step back from my blog will help me recharge before the holidays.
Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving, and see you online sometime soon. Be sure to leave links to any favorite posts in the comments so I can read then when I’m back.

Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy your well deserved break.
Enjoy your time away!
I hope you had a good thanksgiving! And taking a break is good, sometimes, I think. Enjoy it!
Actually, this is a great idea… You unplug and I will catch up on your posts since I have been absent or on a minimalist-blogging routine lately. have fun in Vegas!!!
Good for you, Kim! I hope you enjoy your time in Vegas and your unplugging.
Have a wonderful trip! We’ll see you when you come back to the blog 🙂
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Have fun in Vegas!
Have a great trip and enjoy yourself. I have been unplugged for a very long time, not because I needed to get away from blogging, but simply because there has not been enough hours in a day to do a full time job, a part time lecturing job AND blog. Life got in the way 😉 But hopefully I’ll find more time soon. I miss blogging and I miss all the interaction and the book recommendations and the inspiration.
Good for you for recognizing the fact that we all need to step away from the computer every once in a while. Enjoy Vegas and being unplugged!
This is actually probably something I should do for a few days. I’ve been blogging sporadically lately and feeling exhausted by it. I went non-stop for a year and now I feel a little drained.
Have fun Kim! Enjoy the break!
You know, I’ve never actually gone unplugged. The closest to unplugged I’ve been is the week of BEA, when I didn’t have a computer with me. I was still on my iphone though.
Have a great time!
I’m a fan of unplugging, especially since I saw the wonderfully edited scenes in the movie The Social Network where the inventor of FB was online while the rest of the world was out meeting each other face to face!
I wrote about a non-fiction book today–so rare for me to read two so close together–so check that out when you get back.
Hi Kim!
It’s very important to unplug sometimes. Take the time you need to recharge and have a great trip!!
