I think the crazy kitten picture is going to be my default image for when the world is making me feel crazy — I love that picture 🙂
For whatever reasons, blogging has not been a top priority for the last week or so. I’ve had school and personal stuff and some general laziness and panic about the fact that it’s November — all things that have contributed to a general brain-freeze when it comes to writing posts and reading blogs. Excuses, excuses.
Right now, I have more than 600 unread posts in Google Reader, just from book bloggers. I’ve gotten better about not letting unread post counts bother me, but today that number is making me anxious! So I did a “Mark All As Read” for all of my book blogs folder because I need to start fresh.
That said, I know I missed some really great posts. So I’m asking you, dear readers, to leave me some links to visit. What was your best post over the last week? What’s the best post you’ve read from another blogger? Leave me a link and I’ll go read — I want to know what’s been happening!

I would say my best post this week was the one announcing our 1-year blogiversary! Not only do I thank all of our readers, but we’re also hosting a giveaway! Surely you don’t want to miss out on that! 😀

Steph: Thanks for linking, and congrats!
This is the best post I’ve read this week: http://www.chasingray.com/archives/2009/11/what_a_girl_wants_9_maybe_wino.html
Thanks, Jodie. One book she mentioned, Queen Bees and Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman, sounds fascinating.
I’d say my posts haven’t been very exciting on my blog. Combine that with the fact that it seems EVERYONE is writing for NaNoWriMo instead of blogging, and there aren’t many comments this week.
My favorite posts this week have been the classics circuit — including yours! I’m having fun following it and it’s only week 1!!
I hope you are able to balance for coming weeks.
Rebecca: The Classics Circuit has been a lot of fun to read. I can’t wait to try another book when I finally finish The Woman in White!
I think my best post this week is the one I’ve just written about Australia and the series I am reading right now – The Tomorrow Series by John Marsden: http://louspages.blogspot.com/2009/11/nablopomo-5-my-australian-adventure.html
I haven’t been much around commenting this week, since I am incredibly busy at work have been out of the house three evenings in a row. This is the first evening I have at home without any obligations. My weekend is also going to be hectic, but I hope to be able to visit some more blogs.
Louise: Very cool post, thanks for linking too it!
I amused myself with a short bit of nonfiction about why I’m not doing NaNoWriMo:

I post my link roundups on Friday (general interest) and Sunday (book-blog-specific), but I’ll give you a couple of sneak peeks:
Writing book reviews: How and Why

Trick or Treat in the age of the self-involved:

Have fun catching up!
Thanks Florinda! I don’t always read link round ups in detail, but on a week when I was behind they’re a great resource.
thanks for the link lover Florinda.
Ha, I feel your pain! I have over 700 in my reader too, right now, and I’m definitely thinking of hitting the “mark as all read” button!
I haven’t post anything fascinating at my blog either – but I do have a new comic if ever that amuses you! Other than that, I posted a few reviews but it’s pretty ordinary stuff.

Kay: I love your comics, thanks for linking to it!
All of my posts this week have been personal and baby related. Was having problems early in the week, but everything seems to be fine now. Not terribly interested if one’s looking for bookishness, but the celebrating that everything is OK was my fave post to write. 🙂
Andi: I’m glad everything was ok too!
What a wonderful idea! To be honest it has been a quiet week in the blogging world, so I don’t think you’ve missed anything crucial. I’ll try to think of some great posts and come back – that will count as a random act of kindness too!
Jackie: Yes, please send some my way. I’m glad I was out of commission during a quiet week, that helps me catch up a little bit. I think blogging will be a little quiet through the rest of the year, at least for me, as the semester starts to spiral out of control. Sigh 🙂
I read a lot of great posts this week but of course, none are coming to mind right now. I think a lot of bloggers are a bit overwhelmed and I do believe that it’s the time of the year. The weeks are flying by so quickly and there’s always so much to read and write about. The pressure sometimes is too much and this is all supposed to be fun.
Anyway, just stopped by to say Hi and to give you a high-five in solidarity.
Ti: High five in solidarity back 🙂 I have noticed things in my reader seem to have slowed down a bit, which is nice. Or maybe I’ve just been more on top of them so it feels like it’s slowing down. Either way, sometimes it’s nice to just let go for a bit. Thanks for stopping by!
On Friday, I wrote my review of The Road by Cormac McCarthy, which is now my new favorite book. The book really spoke to me on a personal level and I added all my feelings into the book review:

As far as around the web, I’m participating in a weekly meme hosted by Ooh…Books called FreeVerse. This meme ask participants to highlight a poem each week. I love poetry and wish more people enjoyed it 🙂

Tracie: Thanks for both links. I love the idea of the FreeVerse meme — it’s nice to fin poetry being highlighted on blogs.
What a truly generous question! I have nothing to add other than thank you to YOU and everyone -I’m off to chase these links now. 🙂
