Weekly Geeks was the first blogging community activity I joined, so I’m excited to see it back. I’ve been helping out with some of the behind-the-scenes admin work to get things going again (mostly just maintaining the e-mail and that sort of thing), but I’m happy to be a part of it.
This week’s activity is to write about some of our favorite blogs, sharing what it is about these blogs that inspires, educates, or just makes us laugh. I decided to write about some of my favorite blogs written by college or graduate school students. I tend to forget which blogs are student blogs, so I hope that I didn’t miss any!
Fyryfly at Fyrefly’s Book Blog — Fyrefly is a graduate student in biology. She reads a whole mix of stuff, but we’ve been going back and forth lately with reviews for the Fables comic book series by Bill Willingham. She also does an amazing job categorizing her books and reviews; I aspire to be that organized.
Lu at Regular Rumination — I came across Lu’s blog because of the Blog Improvement Project. She’s a Spanish major who will graduate in May, and then says she wants to get her Masters in Education. Lu is a new blogger, but I’m excited to read more because her 2007 and 2008 book lists have a ton of books I have read or want to read.
Ben at Flying the Stone Kite — Ben and I went to undergrad together, so I like keeping caught up on his blog. Ben is a gifted writer, and I enjoy his short musings and observations about life. He also wrote an awesome guest post for me about Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book.
Christine at She Reads Books — I found Christine’s blog when we were paired up for a Weekly Geeks assignment. Even though she’s a full-time college student (majoring in English), she still finds time to read a ton of books.
Jeff at The Azure Lion Inn — Jeff describes himself as a “graduate student, designer, and reader” who reads mostly mysteries, along with fiction, plays, and other historical books. Jeff doesn’t have a ton of posts yet, but I hope there will be more soon!
Do you know any other good blogs written by students that I don’t know about?
UPDATE: Here are a few other student bloggers that I missed earlier. Silly me, these guys are all in my blogroll!
- Lou at Lou’s Pages
- Eva at A Striped Armchair
- Steph at The Kea
- Monica at Monniblog
- Nymeth at things mean a lot

I knew you’d have some great blogs listed. I’ve got to check a few of them out.
I think Louise is a grad student, too…

Great theme Idea! I’m off to visit now…
Yep, I do — Eva @ A Striped Armchair. She’s really popular (and good).
Also, there’s Steph @ The Kea. She’s a student in Canada.
Keep up the excellent work, both here and in school!
where are the new weekly geeks now posted?
A few new to me ones there. I’ll definitely have to check them out!
I am sitting on my couch gushing to my roommate about how I am so excited about this! Thanks for the shout out. Really, I’m ridiculously thrilled. 😀
Students unite!! 😀
Since you posted this, the hits on my blog tripled for a day. Thanks so much for the post, Kim. I’m super stoked about it.
I didn’t know all those people were students! (Sarah: did you find it? http://www.weeklygeeks.com)
I think raych at Books I done read is a student, although I can’t find anything to back that up.
Also, thanks for the shout-out! 🙂 Grad student power!
Sarah: The new Weekly Geeks are at http://www.weeklygeeks.com
Lu: I still get excited when I get linked too. I don’t think it ever gets old.
Ben: That’s excellent!
Fyrefly: No problem 🙂 Yay grad school…
Cool theme! I’ve been working on my post for WeeklyGeeks for… about a week now because I have so many blogs I love.
*waves hand in the air* I’m a student! I’m a student!
I didn’t know all those bloggers were students! I’m one too 😛
