Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to my new blog. With graduation quickly approaching, it occurred to me that I should think about leaving my old blog (filled with whiney, angsty rants about how difficult my life is) behind, and, if compelled to put things on the internet, put things that may be useful or interesting to other people.

After thinking about the things I am both interested in and familiar writing about, I figured a blog devoted to book reviews and commentary on news and articles I read would be just the thing. I mean, my degree in English has pretty much bred me to be good at writing about books, and my interest in journalism has pushed me to be familiar with the field I hope to get into. It’s perfect!

If you read this blog, you should expect to read reviews of books I am reading (or read a long time ago), posts dedicated to authors and series that I find interesting, and links and commentary on articles and websites I find interesting or amusing. I may also include some personal information, but probably only as it relates to the things I am reading and thinking about. Topics may include, but are not limited to: creative nonfiction, memoirs, cooking, feminism, journalism, fiction, and children’s books.

In the next few days, I hope to have a reviews of Dave Eggers’ 2001 memoir A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and Ben Mezrich’s 2002 account of the MIT Blackjack Team, Bringing Down the House. School’s out, and I have a lot of spare time before I graduate… I think it can be done!
