Weekly Geeks is a community-building weekly meme.  Topics have ranged from book recommendations from different genres to visiting other Weekly Geek blogs to explore what you have in common.  You can participate in as many or as few weekly themes as you wish. Every Sunday, book readers and bloggers from around the world gather virtually for an online book discussion.  It’s a great, weekly excuse to just take some time to think and write about reading.  I love it.  You can get info about joining the Salon here.

Like Fall Into Reading 2008 (below), this challenge asks participants to create their own reading list and commit to finishing the list. The dates for this challenge are March 20 – June 20. Here is my reading list. I actually finished this challenge, and you can read my re-cap here.

Each month you can sign up to try and post every day for that month.  Those that are successful in a given month might get prizes.  I signed up for November 2008 and thought it was pretty cool.  Find out more about NaBloPoMo here.

Taking a tradition and moving it online. Each day counting down to Christmas, visit some blogs online for secret Christmas advent prizes. This is the first time I’ve done this, but it sounds cool! You can see the full list of participants here. My date is December 17, so be sure to stop back then!

Help out bookstores large and small by committing to buy books for everyone on your list this holiday season.
